Dry coarse hair product!!

I was browsing the aisles of the BSS(my new past time!) and found this. The main ingredient is SHEA BUTTER which is a good sealant for dry coarse hair. Used it on my daughters hair & I'm SOLD.

The Inspiration......

This is one of the main reason I started a HHJ. The pic on the left is me Summer 2011 and the picture on the right is Summer 2012. I was appalled at how I had neglected my own hair.

1st Bantu Knot Out

So I decided to try a Bantu know out on my hair. It wasn't perfect but I'm pleased with my results!!!

Healthy Hair Journey Thoughts

Let me start by saying there is a lot of information out there about "healthy hair," and it is very easy to become overwhelmed. I have found myself becoming obsessed with my hair.  I have always obsessed over how my hair "looked" not really paying attention to its health.  This Healthy Hair Journey(HHJ) is something totally different.  I am not saying embarking on a quest for healthy hair is a bad thing. And yes my "transition" is about healthy hair. I am not relaxing my hair because my relaxers of the past have caused a lot of damage.  So for the next 12-18 months I decided not to relax, flat iron or blow dry my hair.

Now back to my HHJ.  There are so many products that people swear by and if you aren't careful you will find yourself spending tons of money on products that all have the same ingredients.  Like anything a HHJ is trial and error.  And although I am only a little under 30 days in I have quickly learned that once you find something that works keep it.  In fact I have altered my daily routine and made it quick simple. I moisturize with motions leave in, and seal with EVCO and EVOO and the Jamaican Black Castor is applied every other night.  My hair loves this regimen and until it tells me otherwise I am sticking to it.  HHJ

JBCO Challenge 2 week update.

Two weeks ago I started applying Jamaican Black Castor Oil to my scalp every other night to help grow my hair thicker and bring the area around my edges back. Here is a picture of my progress. I'm very pleased with the results and I can't wait to see my growth after 6 months.

Another reason to love my transitioning hair........

It has been raining for two days straight and normally I would be ducking for cover.  But with this bun and transitionng hair I have cooling. My ends are tucked away and a little moisture never hurt anyones hair. Let it rain baby, let it rain.

Today's bun!

I'm involved in a protective styles challenge on hairlista.com. I have been bunning daily in order to protect my ends. This is the faux bun I wore today using kanekolon hair.

Coconut co wash....

Good evening! I've been waiting on the "as I am" co wash that my stylist recommended for weeks. The package came on yesterday & today was wash day. The package said to wash Judy like a normal shampoo, so I got into the shower and proceeded to wash my hair. I'm very heavy handed so I only applied it once but my hair felt amazing following my was. So far so good.

"Going Natural" the horror

Lets try this again.

In November 2012 I took my weave out and decided that I was going to "give my hair a break." Somewhere between giving my hair a break I discovered a website called http://www.hairlista.com/forum/topics/healthy-hair-tips-to-start and ended up on my "hair journey.  Rewind back a year and a half to my attempt to "go natural." I had little to no knowledge on what my hair needed and how to take care of it, needless to say 8-9 months post I relaxed my hair again.  At this point my hair is being used and abused by weaves and flat irons and lack of moisture. Once again I began wearing weaves and not taking care of my hair properly. Fast forward to December 31 after days of  reading about a "hair journey" I decided that I was going to take control and grow out my hair with the goal of if being in a healthy state. So here I am on my happy hair journey.
